DPMO Shirt Inspiration Behind the Madness

So, when I first originally created this shirt, it was out of frustration. I’m what I’d call a patient impatient person. I dislike inconvenience, but if I know I have to wait I’ll sit it out. But if that wait is caused by an inconvenience that is out of my control it’ll annoy me, and I verbally said this phrase to myself when a mechanic disappointed me and I said…that’d be the perfect shirt for days when I don’t want to express it in words, but I know people are going to try me that day.

Nothing wrong with a temporary warning; and while nothing is going to happen, I may set a hard boundary and keep it pushing! 😊

Design Choices for our Don’t Piss Me Off T-Shirt

This design was very simple and also complicated because you can create anything with text, but if the text doesn’t fit the phrase, it won’t hit the consciousness the same. My goal was to make sure I created a phrase that was very clear, and people love seeing it. And introduced a way to emphasis on that thought. So how do we take such a simple phrase and make it pop to the point it grabs people’s attention?

For me, my first thought was font. The font had to first express the aggressiveness of the design. It needed to fit like a glove and this font was like a paint-based style which gives off the idea that I painted it myself out of frustration. It gives you that, oh he went out of his way to do this, but in reality, we know how it was designed. It’s all a conscious thing when you read it. That’s what makes a shirt a shirt! Then I needed to make sure the design would fit on a few different shirt colors; In the end, we started with a black shirt and a sand like color.

Then for the font we used white and red. Allowing the red to make the message pop to grab your attention. Now the reader is like “piss?” in bold red words before allowing themselves to read the shirt. It’s almost like click bait without a need for a computer mouse.

I can’t give you all the sauce, but this is definitely a fascinating approach when trying to attempt text only themes. Ultimately you need to be good at creating short manageable phrases people connect with and this is definitely one of those phrases.

Best time to wear the Dont Piss Me Off Shirt?

I think a great time to wear this shirt would be at the gym when working out. That’s usually when men are having high amounts of endorphins and just something you can throw on anytime you want to make someone chuckle because it’s really one of those shirts you have a double take every time you see it.

As with all our designs, our goal is to create shirts that you can wear at any time of the day. We don't want it to look like merch, but regular shirts you can wear at a convention. Just try not causing problems - it'll make us look bad! lol
